Collection: "Face in the Crowd," organized by René Smith (online exhibition)
About the Exhibition
The portrait of Bart by Esmeralda Silva inspired me to put together this collection. There were not a lot of portraits in the NIAD collection, and it was interesting to pull them out and put them in a group. There is a huge variety there and I love how differently the artists handle the simple task of making a face. An angry ceramic head, a sweet fiber figure, a painted tribute to a pop culture icon.
