Collection: Creature Comfort, organized by Sydney Pfaff
About the exhibition
Creature Comfort is a collection of animal-inspired works by six of NIAD's talented artists.
On a personal level, I find great comfort in animals, both domestic and wild. Domestic animals provide unconditional love, a true comfort on a gray day. Wild animals in their natural habitat are mesmerizing and often provide great entertainment.
Ann Meade's playful ceramics are light-hearted and colorful, while Saul Alegria's colorblock illustrations are bold and comical.
I was very drawn to Samantha Kershnar's whimsical drawings —especially Lab W Wings—and Christian Vassell's mixed media collages of turtles and shapes.
Dorian Reid's Cheetah Cats pieces and Michael Nuñez's World of Anthromorphic Dogs complete the show, creating a collection of fun, colorful, and whimsy-filled creature comforts.
